**Expedited fix to trunk to enable Martin's benchmarking scripts **

Discussion

  1. Jhan, Claire & Ian to update us on JaC progress
  • Following CABLE3-MPI progress, we are in the process of updating JAC-5.7 to JAC-5.9.
  • As of today version 6.0 was released which is only one revision/Ticket beyond what has already been included AND all modifications therein are outside of src/ and involve rose-meta, changes.
  • Submission scheduled for this week to facilitate direct definition of LAI and canopy height as read from JULES put params namelist, eliminating requirement to PASS these to CABLE.
  • Submission scheduled for next week to include front-end changes in addition to those already included via a previous submission to facilitate executing CABLE.
  • Subsequent submission within month that actually calls CABLE on albedo pathway.
  1. Priorities for JAC?

Subject to reaction to this/these submissions:

 * Expand for other single sites. i.e. expand for rose-stem

Having demonstrated that CABLE (offline) I/O or JULES I/O can be effectively interchanged without consequence, I am hopeful that we can adopt different configurations easily. Including GSWP.

  * CNP at single sites OR physics only GSWP
  * UM coupled
  • These issues are related given ongoing issue with ESM1.5.
  • Implementation of CASA-CNP agreed to be crucial
  • Collaboration with Tilo initiated on the related issue of updating the CABLE-CASA-CNP version in ESM1.5.

Yet to satisfactorally discuss:

  • Documentation required by JULES - an opportunity for us
  • Analogous tech release to 5.8
  • Launch release cycle for CABLE starting at 3.0

3.1 Priorities for CABLE?

  • Test configurations - benchmarking

  • CNP

  • GW - wait to hear Anna's conclusions

Lesser priority as no current users (of):

  • SLI
  • PopLUC

Yet to satisfactorally resolve:

  1. NRI blah blah $$$
  • resources - tech position

  1. Streamlined application directory (especially suitable to CABLE 3 - see 3.1)

  2. Seperate offline single site and MPI

  3. LFRic-ise CABLE. - lesser priority as not essential until post AR7

  4. Clean up submitted
