Apologies: Jhan Srbinovsky

  1. Annual science meeting discussion. The only date when everyone (except Rachel) is available is the 16-17 Sept ...
There were no dates when everyone on the committee was free, that time period is proving particularly troublesome for Ian and Rachel. - **Martin De Kauwe** to send out a new doodle poll with more dates.
  1. Danny to discuss issues in relation to JaC arising from Jhan's visit to the Met Office. (https:__trac.nci.org.au_trac_cable_wiki_jhan_JaC_ReduxPlan2)
Danny took us through Jhan's summary of the state of play with JaC. There was general optimism about meeting the October JULES release deadline.

There was however a very lengthy discussion about what would happen if CABLE had to abandon its structures in favour of passing every single argument to a subroutine/function. This seemed somewhat counterintuitive in terms of code advancement and there was some discussion whether smaller specific structures could be passed in and out of subroutines. The feeling was that this could be a very large revolution in the code and something that would require more resources than currently allocated.

There was a discussion about the steps needed to get a test case that was scientifically working so that more people (i.e. Gab & Martin) might be able to help out.

Rachel suggested that the annual meeting might be an opportunity for Jhan to show people how to run rose for a single site, switching between CABLE and JULES if we get that far.
  1. AMOS special section.
There was a discussion about submitting a land session to AMOS. It was proposed that two people from UNSW (Anna and Sanaa) and one from CSIRO (Juergen) would be contacted about leading this with help from Gab and Martin.

Rachel was going to send Martin previous AMOS session submissions
  1. Jhan will be visiting the UKMO in June to discuss JaC. Please dicuss the committee's desired position/agenda to be put forward here?

No additional issues raised.

Tickets

  • Ticket #218 is about the C3/C4 split in the canopy code.
Martin has created a branch with this in and tested it and found no difference. This needs to go back to Ying-Ping and Anna now, Martin briefly mentioned this to Rachel.
