The file manager is injected into the tab bar and supports uploading and linking of files. It supports the following file formats:

  • Images
  • Audio and video
  • PDFs
  • 3D (collada .dae, .obj (+ .mtl) and .gltf)
  • XML/HTML
  • DICOM (Medical Image Data)
  • Archive files (supports single file download)
  • CSV
  • Markdown
  • Office Documents (as raw text)
  • Text files

HTML, CSV, Markdown and text files also feature an edit mode. Furthermore, HTML and Markdown support rendering content. Beside the edit mode it is possible to replace a file with a new (also different file type) file.

Spacialist separates uploaded files in three categories: linked files, unlinked files and all files. All files in each section can be filtered by file type, camera model, date/year or tags.

Linked files

Files can be linked to entities by selecting the entity, then right clicking on the file and choosing link to <Filename>. Alternatively, links can be edited in the links tab of the file details view. You can either link the file to the current selected entity (link to <Filename>) or use the search bar at the bottom (Link to further entities) to link one file with several entities using the search bar without selecting each of the entities.

Unlinking can be done in the same way by right clicking on the file while the entity is selected or in the links tab of the file details view.

When an entity is selected, all linked files appears in this tab.

Unlinked files

As the name suggests, only files that are not linked to any entity, are displayed in this tab.

All files

In this tab all of your files (all linked and unlinked) are displayed.

Upload files

To upload files click on the Upload files tab in the files tab on the right and click or drop the files on the drop zone.

Prior to the upload several properties like copyright, description or tags can be added. It is also possible to add and edit these properties after the import (in the details view of each file) but this function saves time if several files with the same or similar specifications are uploaded in a batch.

Tags

Tags function as special keywords for easy filtering. Files can be tagged during import or afterwards in the file details by clicking on the file. Please note that the tags must be created in ThesauRex or any other SKOS-tool first.
