I think Zinc is pretty rad. But you might not get that impression if your friend sends you a link to www.zinc.coop. This PR is meant to kick the can on improving our public profile so that it reflects our actual raditude.

  • There's a little IA work to improve the navigation and allow room for more content
  • MOAR content with deeper insight to who we are/what we do, how people can join. I expect a lot of input and collaboration, this is just a start.

Love this, @rosschapman. Thanks for the upgrade. Dig the raditude.

One thing I wonder about is the different ways folks can contribute. As someone who used to moderate learning communities, I know one question we used to ask as an ice-breaker is what folks want from a space. For example, in one JavaScript space, someone would mention being familiar with X concept and, as a mod, I'd do my best to find someone who they could ask questions from. I admittedly have not done a good enough job of getting to know the new folks who join Zinc via Discord. I wonder how that could improve.

In terms of ways to get to know what Zinc is about, I like that you outline the different ways: coding sessions, get-togethers by the lake. @anaulin mentioned possibly going to meetups like OpenOakland (which seem like a values-alignment). I think @zspencer also mentioned a Coop group in Reddit. Maybe this means creating something like Zinc "user personas". What kind of person do we want to get to know? Where can we find them? Does subject matter expertise matter?

Yes, I love this!

Thanks for kicking this off and starting with some copy. Let us all know if there are pieces of copy that you would like more input on.

Also, let's not agonize too much about the specific content, and err on the side of merging changes that are obvious improvements. 🚢

Thanks I think this is a large improvement; and don't have any blocking feedback!
