Gravity Generator

  • The generator runs on ENORMOUS amounts of electricity and a small [but constantly required due to hawking radiation] amount of Hydrogen gas.

  • It uses these to create a 'shaped singularity', forcing the hydrogen atoms into an almost black-hole dense ball, which is then shaped with magnetic fields to bend spacetime in the direction required. (Don't read too much into this, this is WAAAAY beyond anything that anyone has even had a mathematically sound concept for).

  • Note that as the device spins up we'll get a VERY bright mini-star in the center as the control mass grows and sheds energy. The test renders are just that, you won't be able to turn it on with the doors open by default [it is DCPU controllable though] due to an honestly unbelievable radiation/heat/spaghettification/general-going-to-kill-you-in-less-than-a-heartbeat risk. The physics implications of this thing are NASTY.

  • The central flywheel/gyroscope wheel/Magnetic manipulator will pivot up to 45 degrees on the horizontal axes to control the G direction, controllable with a DCPU or just hard values if needed, it has it's own controller that can take basic input.

  • The gravity generator is not a singleton asset, in that you can have more than one (although they will be endgame expensive and each station will only have a basic one by default), and they can be 'wall' mounted for as much as that makes any kind of sense in this context.

  • When online it will be immovable, near infinite mass.

  • When offline it will weigh a metric TON. The takeaway is that this is one seriously cool piece of tech, but it will be a pain in the ass and just plain dangerous to use.

Ideas for uses in the game:

  • Hacking an enemy stations gravgen DCPU controller [if they're dumb enough to hook it up to the DCPU network] to mess with them, overloading it will be difficult as a brownout is more likely first.
  • using the device to create a 'gravity shield' to protect against micro-meteor showers, stuff that would be a problem for turrets or EMF shields to deal with, again this will be a massive power draw and the device won't be able to generate usable Gs in the meantime.
  • Disabling your own gravity generator to trap intruders in between walls, or just make it hard for them to move around. SOMEBODY is going to try to make a black hole with it, I don't suggest trying to throw it into the sun.
