Isn't there a more Mac-like way to do this? Even if it is only used by power users I don't think dotfiles are a great idea for native Mac apps.

I do not necessarily agree, but what would be a "more Mac-like" way? ...maybe placing the file into the application support directory, e.g. ~/Library/Application Support/GitX/Custom.css ?

e.g. Google Chromes User Styles can be placed here: ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default/User StyleSheets/Custom.css

btw, my Chrome User Styles is symlinked to ~/.custom.css as I like to have these customisations along with my other DOT-Files... see: muhqu/dotfiles@1fa69e5

Ok I've changed it to load from ~/Library/Application Support/GitX/Custom.css then... :-)
