Hey @whitj00: since the title is "begin refactor", it sounds as if renaming and moving files is not the final goal, so I'd like to point out my rather very experimental branch and thread about the topic:

experimental-minimal-encoding/src/extensions + #302

Note: I'm experimenting mostly, and this is far away from being final, and hefty refactoring should be expected. Further, I tested a new approach tackeling transaction serialization, shown in #283 (comment), where similar statements apply. :)

Also worth to mention: there is likely going to be a transition to Bitcoin Core 0.10 rather sooner than later, currently discussed in #286 (comment) and following.

@dexX7 Interesting, one of the main reasons i'm doing this is to make it easier to upgrade MSC between BTC versions, so it takes on a role simmilar to leveldb, where it's simply a library
