I worked on making the FD628 driver for the Tanix box work with multiple devices on LE8.2 and LE9.0.
I have always wanted it to be available on LE7.0 as well.
Here are device trees for some of the boxes with known configurations.

If you do accept this PR, could you please update the LE7.0 repository with the service.fd628 addon? It is necessary for the icons on the display.

Is it possible to make this work for libreElec 8.2 also?

I don't see why not.
I think @kszaq's later 8.2 builds already include this change.

Which box do you have? You'll need a DTB that contains the configuration for your box for the display to work. If you can build your own DTBs, there's a list of device tree sources here.

@kgooris
To help you, you'll need the fd628_dev configuration from the device tree in Android.
Knowing what box make/model you have will allow us to add a new device tree stub to future builds.
Follow this post on how to get what is needed.

What is the make/model of your box?
Can you attach the DTB file?

Firmware I use is called LibreELEC-S905.arm-8.2-8.2.3.1.img
the dtb file below is attached.

when I check the box internally, I found following info:
XBBT95m-1GB S905-8189

In case you need a picture of the box, let me know ;)

display works but show strange info. It currently shows following:
Network, WIFI and Play ICON enabled. Time showing 30:2 and then the last digit has a blinking leg

should I install some kodi plugin to get it working now?
the one from the post above?

Looks like the display digit order is reversed. Try this one.

Use this addon for the indicators (wifi, lan, play, etc.)

display is not working now. (I did not yet install the service but this is only for the icons I suppose?)

Are you a member on the LE forums? I think it would be much better to take this there over PM.

ok, I just created my account there (kgooris also)

I have found this in dmesg
kodi-living:~ # dmesg | grep fd628
[ 12.865600@2] FD628: can't request gpio of fd628_stb
[ 12.865620@2] fd628_dev: probe of fd628_dev.49 failed with error -22

Yes, there was an error in that one.
Try this one, I hope it will work now.

looking almost OK :). the time shows 22:2- (with one upper leg at the right blinking)

update: Time just changed to 32:2-

I also intalled the service now, but the lights are not logical lighting up. Sometimes wifi and lan, somethimes only lan. (i'm connected over wifi) also the play is on, and also the pause, usb and timer icons.
