## Upcoming Betas

### CrowdSec AppSec component - Beta
### CrowdSec Threat Forecast Blocklist - Beta starts 2024-10-25

#### What is it ?

This upcoming new features on some of our front facing components is meant to enhance your defense against malicious activities.
The AppSec capabilities, primarily aimed at virtual patching, will allow you to turn your CrowdSec install into a full fledged WAF (Web Application Firewall)
The Threat Forecast Blocklist is a dynamic, adaptive blocklist customized to your organization's signals. By identifying attacks on similar profiles, it predicts threats that will likely target your organization in the coming days.

To achieve this, the component will channel request data through the behavior engine, broadening vulnerability detection to encompass the full range of exploits via ingress traffic.
Alongside our comprehensive collection of WAF rules, we offer the flexibility to craft your own using our intuitive and robust rule language/model. This feature empowers you to customize your WAF to fit your particular security needs.
The Threat Forecast Blocklist will update every 24 hours, and the signals of all your Security Engines will be considered to build the prediction.

This feature will integrate seamlessly with our existing web servers and proxy Remediation Components, including Nginx, HAProxy, Traefik Proxy, Apache, and more.
#### Who will have access to it ?

**Important note**: During the beta phase, this feature is exclusively available for the Nginx Remediation Component. (*link coming soon, when beta is out !*)
If you have at least one enrolled security engine with an average of more than 100 alerts a week (total on your organization) you have a chance to be invited.
You'll receive an email on Friday October the 25th 2024.

#### Quick install guide

To begin exploring the capabilities of our AppSec enabled components, follow our straightforward installation guide:

#### Things you should try out

Don’t know where to start? Here is a list of practical steps you can take to convert CrowdSec into a Web Application Firewall (WAF).
Give it a try and don’t forget to share your feedback!

- Install appsec-rules/configs
- Write your custom rules
- Customize your appsec-config to choose active rules
**Important note**: You will have 15 days to start using the Threat Forecast Blocklist and 30 days total starting today to test it out. If you do not use it within 15 days, your access will be reallocated to someone else.

## Your feedback is key

Your feedback is invaluable to us.
If you run into any problems, please submit an issue on the project’s [GitHub repo](https://github.com/crowdsecurity).
In addition, when you are part of a specific beta phase, we'll send you a very brief survey for this specific beta to know if it worked as intended for you.

As one of the first testers of the Threat Forecast Blocklist, your insights are crucial. Join the #beta-program channel on Discord, to share your experience and connect with fellow Beta Program members. At the end of the testing period, we'll also send a brief survey to gather your feedback.
