Currently the dbm module doesn't have gdbm support built. Would be pretty useful if we could get this to work.

This will require that we package gdbm as well. ( conda-forge/staged-recipes#4477 )

There is a gdbm package, but it doesn't work, or at least not with Python 3.6.
