Incidentally pdoc re-inserted missing date2index and date2num stuff.
This is in the spirit of people seeing the functions and having no idea what they are for. I had to do a lot of digging since I was unfamiliar with this corner of the library, and in turn found out that the proper docs page regarding .rc files was missing (sort of) from the netcdf-c documentation (see Unidata/netcdf-c#2952).
Could possibly wait until netcdf-c 4.9.3 is released, due to the currently-online netcdf-c docs page being out-of-date, but it should be updated soon.
