Proposed Talks

The REST Gateway Drug: Web Data

  • Type: 5in5
  • Level: Intermediate
  • Description: Web Data explains what matters when it comes to publishing data on the web. It can serve as a stepping stone for more fully-featured REST APIs. What would it take for Web Data to become a more publicized concept, so that people better understand the value of linking without being pressured into specific data models?
  • Background: Web Data was created as an alternative to Linked Data, avoiding the latter's metamodel fundamentalism and instead focusing on web architecture.
  • Slides: TBA

Using Web Concepts

  • Type: 5in5
  • Level: Intermediate
  • Description: Web Concepts is supposed to be a foundation to describe which concepts of Web Architecture are used in specific APIs or API landscapes. So far, the focus has been on collecting and organizing the most important concepts. The next step is to come up with a way how Web Concepts can be used as a measurement of the webbyness of an API landscape, and how it evolves over time.
  • Background: Web Concepts is ongoing work in the API space. The goal is for it to become the foundation for many API documentation scenarios.
  • Slides: TBA
