Reducing the number of wasm calls reduces our decode performance from ~8ms for a 256x256 image to less than 1ms.

I've kept this PR up because it's a good idea. Since you pushed this we've moved the encoder into its own directory, but it's not a lib yet to keep the build simple. Once it's a lib I'll close this PR. |
