Android 15 DUO-DE official build 🎉

Thanks to everyone who participated in beta testing. This release is based on android-15.0.0_r1and includes gapps based on barbet 15/AP3A.241005.015.

Caution

There are several bugs that may affect the device's usability. If you are concerned, please stay in the last build of A14 until A15 matures in a couple of iterations. Please use this discussion for issues and related discussions.

All users running A14 and A15-beta will get this build as an OTA update. Check your system updates from settings.

There are nice new features like app paired launching for tablet mode. Check release notes and features for more info.

v2024.10.15

Android 15 🎉

This is the first A15 release for Surface Duo devices.

This version is based on android-15.0.0_r1 with the latest TrebleDroid patches.

Expect lots of bugs. I would like to test the initial release with volunteers for both duo1 and duo2 devices. Please use this discussion for issues and related discussions.

You can test the image by

• Flashing manually with platform tools.
• Sideloading with DSU sideloader

When it is confirmed that the A15 is stable enough, I will build the vanilla version and update the OTA link to work with devices that run Duo-de A14.

This is a weekend feature release 🎁,

You can launch apps in freeform mode or full-screen mode depending on whether you are in tablet mode or phone mode.

Hold the desktop, click Home settings and find the two settings Tablet Mode Floating Windows and Phone Mode Floating Windows.

This will allow you to enable desktop mode separately for

• Book and Slate Postures
• Tent, Ramp, and Brochure Postures

This revision fixes the following two issues,

• Posture not transferring to phone mode in certain cases (Issue #61)
• Unfolding does not activate the display automatically (Issue #60)

Here are the improvements,

• Enable Tent mode and Ramp mode by default. In past releases, this had to be enabled manually
• Redundant sleep mode trigger when the device is folded shut
• Fix some minor glitches in the phone mode

v2024.09.25

This includes updated sleep mode settings when the device is folded shut. The original sleep mode was triggered by the hall sensor, if the sensor is not reading correctly it could end up not getting into sleep mode unless you press the power button implicitly. This update contains a redundant mechanism to put the device into sleep mode when the phone is folded shut.

This release contains improvements to the usability of the device

• Improved interface translation logic between phone mode and tablet mode when device posture changes.
• Fixed the "Launcher3 stopped working" issue that was in the previous release.
• Fixed the issue of the Launcher3 getting reset upon reboots.

v2024.09.18

This release implements a proper posture transformation between the Tablet mode (both screens) and the Phone mode (single screen). Yes, they are two unique UIs optimized based on the posture.

Fixed issue,

• Navigation bar duplicates when switching between postures #39
• App drawer is compressed when opened on one screen only on recent app window #49

Note: Sometimes it might show a notification indicating launcher3 crashed in the background after changing the device posture. Please disregard this for now, as it does not affect functionality, and a new process will respawn automatically. I have addressed this issue, but the fix will be available in the next release.
