Steps to reproduce:

  1. Insert a reference in Chicago Manual of Style (full note) - anything that has italics
  2. Click "Remove Field Codes"
---> The italics from the footnote are removed.

I just ran into this while unlinking my citations with Zotero 6.0.27 and LibreOffice Writer 7.3.7.2. Given the nature of this bug as one that pops up late in the writing process and therefore potentially very stress inducing, maybe there should be a warning that this might happen until the bug can be fixed.

I am experiencing this as well. When I modify a citation manually, the next time Zotero refreshes the citations, it asks if it should cut that one loose to leave my modifications. If I say "yes" then the titles are no longer italicized. If I use the plugin's "Unlink" button, it removes all the italics (not the text, just the formatting). When I sent a document to my advisor last week labeled "final" it turned out to not be so final when they reviewed it with me today!

Libreoffice 7.4.3.2, Zotero 6.0.27, on Ubuntu 22.04

Zotero is, otherwise, an amazing gift that has saved me untold hours. Thank you.

I can confirm that this happens on LibreOffice 24.2.4.2, Zotero 6.0.37, MacOS X 14.5
