I already discussed some points over at intel#118 considering auto-completion: best way would be to use 'argcomplete'.
Yet, I didn't find time, so I at least want to share my bashcompletion script as it may be helpful for some: https://gist.github.com/s-hemer/760f13ced6f4f6d99b0cddde5757470f
