I would like to have an option to change the main texture and to change the size of every single point individually.

Just modding default skin texture is not really the way to go, because it's heavily using texture coords to reassemble bar from texture pieces for each configuration. This texture for example will be broken for paladins and DKs

For the same reason you can't just make something bigger if texture doesn't support it.

Alternative skins exist and the last two aren't limited by a background texture and a lot simpler to understand and mod
