Event Driven Architecture (EDA)

Event-driven architecture is a design paradigm in which a system consists of a set of components that communicate with each other by producing and responding to events. In an event-driven system, components interact with each other by sending and receiving messages, with the messages being referred to as events. The events can be triggered by external sources, such as user actions or external data sources, or they can be generated internally by the system itself. Event-driven architecture can be used to design highly scalable and flexible systems, as it allows components to be added or removed without affecting the overall functionality of the system.

Benefits

Some benefits of event-driven architecture include:

Example

Caveats

Event-driven architecture has several potential drawbacks or challenges. For example, it can be difficult to understand and debug an event-driven system because the flow of control is not always obvious. Additionally, because events can be generated asynchronously and may be handled out of order, it can be challenging to ensure that the system maintains a consistent state. Furthermore, event-driven systems can be more complex to design and implement than other types of architectures, and they may require additional infrastructure, such as a message broker, to function properly.
