Okay so first it was my own stupid mistake, my API did not send the correct information yet. However, after trying some more, i still can't get it too work with complex types (even after fixing my API). Neither the FluentSelect or the FluentCombobox. Maybe someone could also try, the complex data type is fairly simple:
I have it working now with the FluentCombobox and simply using a list of names, but it takes some extra logic. I need to store both the ID and the name in my backend, but i am making the user select the name because it is more user friendly formatted. My currently working solution is like so:

Hi! I saw that version 4.9.2 should have had some new changes that were going to fix the FluentSelect two way binding. However, when i try to reassign my fluent select selected option it does not appear on my screen.
I first noticed it when i tried to use the FluentCombobox, but then i also tried it with the FluentSelect. Can anyone see if i am doing something wrong.

This is the logic that is updating the value:
The behaviour is that the page loads without any of the 2 filled in, the list of the values is loading nicely however so i would be able to select one, however i need to load the existing choice into the select field first..
