I know ePSXe is closed source. But so is the Steam Windows client and it can be installed and used in Lutris. I would like to suggest this...
The ability to install a ePSXe runner which does not contain ePSXe. It will require the user to install ePSXe manually and set the path to the ePSXe installation in the runner settings. This runner will interact with ePSXe and allow ePSXe integration into Lutris. ePSXe is one of the best PSX emulators out there.
