hm not sure if we need this - only thing would to update a release for a given kyverno release/version

Yep, would be nice to support multiple versions in the future.

so we want to organize release branches for kyverno versions? But we then coupled to kyverno versions for playground version?

Not sure how we organize it the best way

Probably just adopt the same semver strategy and go 1:1 with Kyverno.

Kyverno 1.10 = Playground 1.10
Kyverno 1.10.1 = Playground 1.10.1

Hm i don’t think that will work all the time. We might want to release fixes or features between kyverno releases

No problem to use strings after those versions.
