How to safely upgrade the KRL gem? #13

I upgraded all the gems on my system and started having problems with msvcrt-ruby*.dll. How do I upgrade just the KRL gem? Perhaps the gem should specify a version for JSON. I still had the JSON gem 1.4.6 installed, removing 1.5.1 stopped the madness.
