Welcome!

The AP exams are less than a month away and since the tests are the same nationwide, we thought that it would be beneficial to bring high schoolers from across the country into diverse study groups so that we can learn, share, and cultivate from each other in new ways.

Things to keep in mind

  1. We are a community.
  2. Don't be afraid to make mistakes.
  3. Practice makes perfect.

Favorite the Group

Ideally, you should add it to your favorites so that it shows up to the top of your sidebar/menu. 😉

Posting

Posts should follow the [https://github.com/hshackers/docs/blob/master/guidelines.md](HS Hackers Guidelines) (TL;DR don't post crap, and don't be rude in comments.)

Anyone can post and create study sessions.

When to Meet

Try to come up with a regular schedule for study sessions, keeping in mind that members are scattered in timezones across the United States. Also keep in mind that most of us have extracurricular activities, so after 9PM EST would be preferable during the weekdays.

At minimum, you should have 2 study sessions per week per 10 members. Larger groups of 50+ members should meet every other night.

Setting up Study Sessions

To start a study sessions just create a Facebook event. In the Title, explain what you are studying or meeting about, and in the Description be sure to include links to resources and details on how the meeting shall commence (Google+/Skype/Firefox Hello/etc.)

If you need help, follow these templates:

Overflow

If a Google+ Hangout is full, start a new hangout and post it to the group wall. 1-2 people in an existing full hangout are encouraged to join the new hangout.

Groups

Starting a Group

For best results, a group should have at least 10 committed members and ideally a mentor who has taken the test in the past. It should also ideally be created no more than 60 days before a test.

When creating a group, it should be Closed and named Study {{Class.Name}}. URLs schemes should follow https://www.facebook.com/groups/Study{{Class.Shorthand}}/. You should pick an icon that is relevant to the group topic.

Group descriptions should link to this repo at https://github.com/hshackers/study/.
