Where to have polls about how the leadership should handle divisive situations?

I tried to create this internal poll (fully in good faith), but it got immediately locked and closed. I wish there would be a way for the community to have a say in how the engine should communicate, behave and act in this divisive situation, but it looks like this is not the place for it.

So where can someone create a poll that:

• Happens to include people who contribute, use, have real ties to the engine and its uses
• Can show results and feedback to the engine leadership, management and administrative roles
• Can reach wide enough audience

I am seriously interested why this is a bad effort? Shouldn't the community be involved in how its best to manage this in order to keep damage to the minimum?
