Another developer forked it and continued development as dool. This fork has been linked from the original dstat readme, indicating the original authors blessing. This project has been very active in the years since with 1 or 2 releases per year for the last 3 years.
Notable differences:
default output format and plugins changed, --dstat flag for backwards compatibility
dstat was made for Python2, though Python3 was planned for the 0.8.x release, the project was discontinued, dool fully supports Python3 (and is no longer compatible with Python2)
