Hi Adnan,
I have tried the first method of installing the add-on using the system preferences-> add-on -> install option. Although the installation seems to go smoothly and no error messages pop up, the add-on does not appear on the sidebar with the rest of the add-ons. The second method of installing the add-on using the build-in python shell in blender seems to work. Thanks!

Thank you for describing the issue in detail Farid. I shall try to find out what has changed in Blender while installing addons using the first method. Meanwhile, I am glad that the second method still works.

Hi Farid & Adnan,

I have also experienced corresponding problems.

And I have already find an alternative for the first method:

  1. Load the ambf_addon.py file into the scripting section.
  2. In the interface of scripting, go to the second row, here is a section called "Text". Click the button, and check the option "register".
  3. Go to the first row, click on "File" --> "Default" --> "Save Startup File".
  4. Reboot blender, it may have a window asking you whether to trust the script, click "yes".

Hope this helps.

Thanks Jack for the detailed description! As far as I have tested, saving the startup file after installing the AMBF blender add-on does not save the installation of the add-on for the next session and it has to be re-installed again upon startup. Maybe this issue has been addressed in the newest update that you have tested but version 2.8x had that issue.
