77% of respondents were positive about the idea of an electronic Passport; among the reasons for those saying no were preference for hardcopy/paper and distrust of technology.
More than 80% of respondents feel they have a relatively up-to-date device that is capable of accessing most modern sites.
Respondents are less confident of their ability to access the internet via data or wifi; on the order of 55% believe their data plan to be sufficient, while 68% believe they can rely on wifi.
A takeaway from this is that we cannot completely dispense with a hardcopy version of the passport. Part of this could be mitigated by having the ability to print out hardcopy of specific pages/sections and having case workers provide printouts on request during their meetings with clients.
Second, the implication that clients don't inherently trust their data access implies having the ability for offline access and possibly a store-and-forward system to allow deferred actions when a client is not on the network. Support for offline access can be evaluated on a per-feature basis as we delve into the Passport features.
