Using Node Application Metrics with the Health Center client

Mike Tunnicliffe edited this page Aug 18, 2015 · 2 revisions

General documentation for the Health Center client can be found on the IBM Monitoring and Diagnostic Tools - Health Center Knowledge Base.

Perspectives

When the Health Center client is connected to the Node Application Metrics agent, the following perspectives do not apply:

  • Classes
  • I/O
  • Locking
  • Method trace
  • Network
  • Threads

The remaining perspectives do apply, except for the following sub-sections:

  • Garbage collection: object allocations, samples by request site/object, tuning recommendations
  • Native memory: Runtime native memory, Runtime native memory breakdown table
  • Profiling: Samples over time

Timeline in the Method profiling view

When you monitor Node.js applications, the timeline shows invocation times to the nearest capture interval. The Node Application Metrics agent attempts to capture and send a batch of sample data every 5 seconds, but might be delayed by application tasks that are running on the Node.js event loop.
