The MCP23017 is an I2C port expansion chip (https://www.best-microcontroller-projects.com/mcp23017.html)

  • Add 16 I/O pins per chip

  • Add up to 128 I/O pins (8 chips)

  • Full bidirectional I/O pins, with pullups

  • Has interrupt ability (separate pin)
