Feature request: override max drawing distance of certain objects

I am currently trying to improve the System Features Rings OXP, but one of the main issues I am having is that the rings completely disappear at around 2.7 OU from the planet. This makes the rings simply pop up into existence and is particularly obvious to people using OXPs which enlarge the systems (Distant Suns, Torus to Sun, Extra Planets, etc.). My question: would it be possible to manually override the maximal drawing distance of a certain object, so that this value of 2.7 OU could be bumped up?
