We need the latest version of the wgrib utility (for grib1 files), as developed by Wesley Ebisuzaki, to be available on WCOSS2. The current default version of wgrib (v1.8.2) does not allow for parsing the ensemble or perturbation number from the ECMWF ensemble wave output files. Wesley's updated version (v1.8.5) allows for this. Obtaining the perturbation/ensemble number for the waves is necessary for our upcoming Blend QMD probabilistic significant wave height product. For now, I have been simply pointing to a copy of Wesley's executable for this to work in development, but we will need this in production if possible. Otherwise, we could do a local install of the code as a part of the Blend if needed.
Here is an example of what one gets from the current default wgrib, from an ECMWF ensemble wave file:
