I am an Arch Linux user, I have been a Minecraft player for more than 10 years.

Before I use multimc-bin AUR package, until I see this repo.

Here is some suggestion for this repo to make it better.

  1. Do not make it depend on debian package. Build arch package from scratch. If involving rebranding or renaming. Just write it in PKGBUILD. To show how the procedures work. The reason why we use Arch Linux is for transparency and user-centered. Currently, this repo is more like a closed-source software.
  2. rename the package name as multimc and upload to AUR, or if you can get trust from Arch Linux staff, you can simply add multimc into extra repo in Arch Linux. It is not difficult, because you are official developer of MultiMC. You can definitely provide long term maintenance toward multimc.
  3. versioning. Why 1.6, consider my proposal on forever develop release --> new versioning pattern Launcher#5305 . Use consist versioning number on multimc.

Not for offending, but even if you are all core developer of MultiMC official. But When I trying to select how should I install MultiMC on my computer, I would choose third-part PKGBUILD from AUR rather than official build.

Because the official package is a black-box, I don't fully know what happened during packaging.

Even if I trust you, I believe you are not going to do bad thing on my computer. But I would still prefer the packaging method for more transparency.

I believe this feeling is not just from me. The majority Arch Linux user has similar preference. Hope you can understand.
