Lock prompts to controller or KB/M #5
Comments
Quick Reminder that Resident Evil games (prior to Resident Evil 4 Remake) historically don't allow you to use Mixed Input. for RE Engine-based games in the franchise: I know someone is trying to make that happen. Link related: praydog/REFramework#674 (comment) for Resident Evil 5's case: I don't think locking prompts is going to cut it as the Aiming system is tied toward Input Methods. While Controller Input will give you the Laser Aiming scheme, we're all accustomed too, but if you switch to Keyboard/Mouse: the entire aiming scheme changes to a more traditional Third-Person Aiming scheme or switch to a Cursor Aiming system as a option (similar to RE5 Gold Edition's PlayStation Move Controls)...and the former was the default option before you install QoL Fix, which added the Laser Aiming scheme from the Controller code. Which is the reason why it was possible to do "Nintendo Switch-style" Gyro Aiming scheme that way, as I actually use Controller-to-KB/M Inputs trick. But Controller users don't have the option to use either the Traditional TPS Aiming scheme or Crosshair Aiming system. So, I don't think it's possible to truly lock Controller prompts unless some of the modding community goes out of their way to completely decoupling the entire aiming scheme out of the Input Method and turn it into a simple Aiming system shared between Controller and Keyboard/Mouse. |
Thanks for the info, @AL2009man. I hope I'm not misremembering, but I thought that mixed input worked for at least controller buttons/stick movement and keyboard keys, if not for aiming, which is all that I need it for anyway, since I only use stick aiming. Using laser sight for both input methods might be enough for me. Really hope that Mr @WiFiAdapter will find a way to make it work in the RE Engine games, too. |
I asked about this in Lyall's IshinFix issues here, see that thread.
I was just checking to see if it's possible in RE5 as well. I'm sure it would be appreciated by many, certainly the players who use the Gyro Aiming guide by @AL2009man. I bought the game and remember that simultaneous input actually worked, at least for just buttons and keys. Had to refund because I couldn't make the controls work for me with the auto-switching. Couldn't find this in any of the Fixes and it's always worth asking.
