Hello dear libprotoident developer/s,

may I ask about the change of the licensing. There was a thread about including libprotoident into the suricata IDS/IPS: https://redmine.openinfosecfoundation.org/issues/511
As you can see from here: http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#AllCompatibility
GPLv2 as suricata is and LGPLv3 as now libprotoident are not compatible at all.
Different would be having LGPLv2.1+ .

I'm interested in your opinion

That would be very great and a needed one for Suricata

LGPLv3 makes this impossible (Suricata is GPLv2)

@q2dg that's a fact, the meaning of this ticket is to discuss the possibility to change the license in order to use it under Suricata. I'm also willing to share the integration code in that case.
