Create Image from Raspberry Pi

Maybe instead of the entire setup file, create a release on GitHub that has the entire Raspberry Pi image formatted so all you need to do is flash that image. Could be something that bypasses a lot of the points of failure. Check out this if you're on a Windows computer. Possible Caveat is if multiple PI's need this image and are on the same network. You'd still have to remember to change hostnames.
