Only tiny images are cropped

I played a lot with various settings, however only a tiny image (135x340) is cropped which is only a small part of the real scanned image (3600x2400). I have a clear white background in the image.

I get the following error message, not sure it is related to the problem:

(gimp:6150): Gimp-Core-CRITICAL **: 21:24:14.344: gimp_image_undo_thaw: assertion 'private->undo_freeze_count > 0' failed

Any idea what could go wrong?

I'm having the same issue with Gimp 2.10, I suspect this scm only works with earlier version of gimp, but not sure.
