No longer works with Lion 10.7.2

virtual host name resolution in the passenger pane was handled via dscl

e.g.:
sudo dscl localhost -list /Local/Default/Hosts IPAddress

Latest Lion update (10.7.2) no longer seems to respect the dscl entry for hosts.
Think this is a bug in lion ...
But either way / means passengerpane isn't working for me.

Specifically: the virtual hostname is not resolving for me.

adding the the virtualhost name to /etc/hosts seems to fix this
But maybe there is some other fix as well.
