При запуске скрипта последнее действие -- это вызов метода poller.start(), который занимается всем I/O. Соответственно, публикация события до старта poller'а ничего не шлёт клиентам.

The last action on the script execution chain is the call on poller.start() which does all I/O handling. Thus, publication of events before the call sends nothing to the clients.
