Using 'dv' service excludes certain data types

Using the NWIS.get_record for stream gage data retrieval, when using service = 'dv', parameter 00065 (stage) is excluded from results. Have to use service = 'iv' to retrieve stage and discharge. Is it possible to add a function that provides daily values for stage?

NWIS.get_record should retrieve daily data for any parameter for which there is data: it does not perform the calculations itself. If you aren't finding daily values for parameter code = 00065, then it's likely that the site doesn't compute daily statistics for that parameter.
One reason why a site may not have daily values for gage height is that the computation currently uses the entire period of record, which can compute some unreliable statistics if the site has made a major datum change over the years. Discharge does not have this issue because we account for datum changes in the computed discharge values.
Maybe a bit more explanation than you were expecting, I hope it helps.

Try pulling the data at https://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/dv/?referred_module=sw
That will verify whether or not these data even exist, but I suspect @lstanish-usgs is correct.

Thank you both for your response. @lstanish-usgs, the explanation is very helpful, this seems a recurring challenge in our profession lacking a clear solution. My hopes this has been figured out on the USGS side may be dashed for now...! :-D
