  • obtain or create map of rooting depths
  • add the map to ClimaArtifacts
  • replace root distribution with rooting depth
  • change all calls to PlantHydraulicsParameters to support change
  • extend rooting depth to support Union{FT, ClimaCore.Fields.Field}
  • make relevant additions to tests
  • change land.jl to use the root depth map
  • add to NEWS.md and mark as breaking change
