Lak of kingdom context for many species hypothesis in UNITE
Lack of kingdom context for many species hypothesis in UNITE
Jul 19, 2024
The classification of UNITE has +24 additional kingdoms, we could add them to the patch but I think it requires further thinking. Something to discuss on the next meeting
we definitely do not want 24 more accepted kingdoms. If we add any then just as synonyms for existing taxa.
But yes, it should be good to talk with someone about this. @thomasstjerne@tobiasgf any idea why there are so many kingdoms in UNITE?
You can place quite a few already, e.g. Viridiplantae could be just mapped to Plantae. More than half of them seem to be Chromista/Protista/Algae related
Ask GBIF if those are useful for the backbone and ask UNITE if having at least a kingdom is possible
