Voice control takes too long to activate

On Uwe's laptop, from pressing the audio button to Amy actually recognizing speech, it takes about two seconds. This makes for a very bad UX because the user expects Amy to listen instantly and therefore Amy often misses about two words at the start of every sentence.

The issue should be debugged and it should be determined whether this issue is on our side or the fault of googles API.
