We need to build a leg test stand, preferably before the mid project report or have made big strides towards building one. We will have some spare wood to work with from the MSL, as well as 3D printers and the likes of that. Try to avoid building this with any parts we do not have easily accessible. Reference our stock sheet for what we have available.

Build requirements:

  1. Have a stable foundation that can avoid shaking too much and can be clamped down

  2. Be tall enough the have the leg fully extended vertically and not be touching the surface the stand is on, plus add an 2 inches of extra height so that we may be able to put things below the leg without issue.

  3. Have a place to mount an ODrive and a power supply (where the odrive and power supply should be able to be removed). Suggestions: 3d print mounting brackets so things can slide in and out.

  4. Have cables be routed to avoid getting tangled up in the leg (also may want to 3d print cable brackets of some kind)

  5. Be able to screw the leg into the beam somehow

Message Kalin to measure dimensions of parts when he's in the lab (e.g. power supply, wood beams, odrive, etc)

Aluminum extrusions and required parts have been ordered and waiting to be received. The machinist from the shop said it was okay to stop by and they can quickly cut anything we need.
